Automatic Earth Tour
It is no secret that we are living in interesting and challenging times, and that we are in great need of collaborative strategies for sustainability to address our planetary emergency head-on.
Many organizations, movements and initiatives have sprung up to take on the challenge of transitioning society to a more sustainable paradigm, but, despite the many small successes that deserve recognition and celebration, we are facing ever more concerning challenges. For this it is imperative that we collaborate with others, using shared platforms for communication and action, in order to strengthen our response to this impending crisis and determine a discourse for sustainability.
A new platform for communication, collaboration, and convergence of action has been established by a coalition of change-agents whose focus is on the all-out effort that must be harnessed in order to reach our shared goal. Sustainability Showcase is this platform – a platform whose intent is to “catalyze a confluence for sustainability”. This showcasing of strategies for sustainability involves bi-annual touring summits with presentations and panels from leaders in the field of sustainability who share the common ground of an understanding of our shared predicament and a need to collaborate in order to survive.
Sustainability Showcase Event Series
The Sustainability Showcase event series is kicking off 2013 with the Automatic Earth Tour from March to May, featuring international speaker Nicole Foss.
Nicole Foss, an international sustainability and finance expert whose list of credentials is as long as your arm, blogs as “Stoneleigh” at www.theautomaticearth.com and explains the links between the converging pressures facing the globe – peak oil, financial crisis, and climate change, to name but a few – and the implications for our everyday lives and what we can do to address them.
The Sustainability Showcase event series provides a communication platform, not unlike TED, for individuals and representatives of groups to present, and seek support for, their own strategies for shifting society toward a paradigm of sustainability. Nicole will be in good company, presenting alongside many Australian leaders in the field of sustainability – notably Ben Pennings, founder of international sustainability movement Generation Alpha, Dr Graeme Taylor, evolutionary systems theorist and author of Evolution’s Edge, Cate Faehrmann Greens MLC, and Richard Sanders, Geoff Mosley and Mark Diesendorf from CASSE, among many others.
The event series intends to bring together like and unlike-minds under the umbrella of shared intent, goals and understandings, and with the stated objective to converge, rather than compete, for strategic solutions to our planetary emergency.
